Skippered Yacht Charter
Dreaming of sailing holidays in Croatia and having no license or sailing skills or wanting a guide? Thinking about exploring the Croatian coastline, swimming in the salty and crystal clear sea, and soothing environment. Then choosing a skippered yacht in Croatia or skippered catamaran in Croatia is the best way to enjoy your holiday.
Who should choose the yacht charter with skipper?
Skippered boat can be picked by a family or group of friends who want to leave a skipper with all responsibility. Your sailing license for your skipper is not mandatory.
Sailing skills are not mandatory, but skippers can learn from those who would like to engage in regular sailing. We even have advanced skipper requests for regattas occasionally, so even seasoned crews sometimes choose someone who will be master of the boat to have more fun in chartered language.
Skipper on board: Our skippers are competent, experienced in Croatia. They are all Croatians, but they also speak a few languages, ranging from 25 to 50 years of age and registered for skippered charters (licensing and tax-free business). Some of them have years of experience, beginning as children in Croatia’s sailing clubs and choosing a skipper job as a career of life. The responsibility of the skippers is to carry out technical check-in / out on the vessel, advise the crew on the route, moorings, and weather conditions. Sometimes the skipper is not able to provide the direction you expected due to the weather but in favor of the safety of your boat and yourself. We’re going to make every effort to fit the right skipper to the right group.
You are choosing a sailing route
When chartering a skipper, you are welcome to have your idea of the route and discuss it with the skipper. If children are on deck, the skipper will change the direction, maybe shortening the routes.
Skipper costs around € 150-250 per day (including 25% VAT), and it is customary for the skipper to have meals with the crew. Skipper payment will be made with your charter invoice or at our base office during your check-in.
Skippered yacht charter advantages
- Skipper is responsible for practical boat pieces, moorings, and crew protection.
- Skippers usually know all the best mooring locations, the best restaurants, and have local people’s information sources.
- Skipper’s expertise can be a gift that can encourage and calm your productive holiday.
If you choose a skippered yacht charter, booking a boat with a skipper’s cabin is best, so everyone can have privacy.

Please contact booking directly or use our online form if you need advice on selecting the appropriate boat. Necessary papers – skippered boat and security deposit; The skipper will have a valid sailing license and a VHF permit, and the crew will only need passports or identification.
Security deposit: All ships are protected and even with a skipper on a deck, the security deposit must be left in the event of damage caused by crew fault (for example a broken window).
Deposit refundable: paid by (preferred) credit card or in cash. The deposit balance will be unblocked (returned to the client) after returning the boat and technical check-out with the skipper. For a reason, the security deposit is not covered by insurance, like missing dinghy or broken windows. If the loss is less than the security deposit (e.g., missing fender approx. 200 HRK), we will unblock the card and charge the actual cost (e.g., fender 200 HRK) if the fault of the skipper is that the insurance of the skipper covers damage.
All damage should be reported to help the number of boat owners immediately.
If you don’t have enough yachting experience, don’t have the requisite licenses or want to relax on your holiday and don’t care about anything, you’re going to hire a skipper, and perhaps even a hostess or a cook (depending on your needs, preferences and how much space you have onboard).
It can make your sailing experience much more pleasant and enjoyable to have a professional skipper on board. Don’t hesitate to rely on a professional if you don’t have enough sailing experience or if you have any doubts about your skills. He will drive the boat and take care of it, but he will also give you some tips on sailing, recommend routes, answer most of your questions, show you some excellent restaurants and help you find your way in an unknown area (probably).
Because of their size, power and cost, larger yachts can only be chartered with a skipper or crew, and a separate crew cabin is usually available. But, if you don’t have one on board, note to save a skipper’s berth. Besides sleeping arrangements for the skipper, you are also responsible for the crew’s food, so don’t forget that when you buy food or go out to the restaurant.
All these things go to the hostess as well.
She’s going to cook and keep the boat dry, but she can give you some helpful advice and suggestions as well.
Skipper and hostess will take care of the boat while relaxing and enjoying your holiday. Sometimes some guests forget about what their duties are and view them as personal servants, which is not valid, of course. In the Crew section, you can read more about skipper, hostess, and other crew members’ jobs.
If you want to hire a skipper or hostess, don’t forget why they’re there and treat them with respect so that you can have a fun and enjoyable week for everyone.

Skipper qualified with local knowledge
Skipper takes care of your yacht’s everyday running. Learn from scratch or develop your sailing skills. Relax on board and let your skipper take control. Who are the skippers?
We have competent, experienced, and qualified skippers for you at every location to sail your yacht. We know that we can pick the one best for you based on your requirements from all the skippers.
Your Skippered Charter Route
When you’re taking a skippered charter, it’s up to you where you’re going. Local knowledge of the skipper will go a long way, but you, your desires and expectations from where you want to spend your holiday will also guide him.
What is the price of a skippered charter?
Hiring a skipper is close to hiring any piece of stock (with all due respect to our skippers, of course!) in that you order them as a surcharge, and we apply the fee accordingly; and you have to pay your skipper on arrival.
Remember that you are also responsible for the skipper’s meals when recruiting a skipper; don’t worry, that doesn’t mean taking them out every night for steak unless, of course, you want to. It only means that you can offer some to the skipper when you make breakfast or lunch, and for the evening, you can either give them an allowance, invite them out with you, or if you offer them some onboard cooking.
The skipper must also have his cabin, so please take this into account when planning your sailing holiday party.
What are the following steps?
It’s practically like hiring a holiday villa! You should look at the various destinations and choose one that you like the sound of. Selecting a yacht is the same as choosing a villa (six people will need at least three bedrooms–called yacht cabins + one extra for the skipper= a four-cabin yacht). The easiest way to do this is to fill out our inquiry form or call us at+ 386.40.873.520, and we can advise you on the size of the vessel that would suit you. Chartering a skippered yacht in Croatia is different in many ways than chartering a bareboat yacht. It is a laid back holiday where the sight of sailing comes as a fascinating originality without the pressure and danger of exploiting the abundant energy of wind. It is identical to power yachts; a skippered yacht charter replaces the burden of running an expensive and efficient machine with the luxury of a carefree holiday.
Skippered yacht charter
Skippered yacht charter or skippered yacht chartering has many benefits; skippers are mostly familiar with the type of boat. When a skipper is present, the protection deposits do not change, but you are no longer responsible for possible damage that may occur during navigation. Your deposit must cover potential damage caused by you alone: broken plates, glasses, windows, damaged equipment, etc. Marinas and ports are overcrowded in the high season, and the skipper must know when to be in the marina to secure one if you need a berth. The skipper should know alternate ports with commercial berths even if you don’t get a berth in the marina.
Also, it is essential to know the local winds and where the anchor holds best when anchoring for the night. The skipper will not only ensure the safety of the crew and the vessel by using a skippered yacht charter, he or she will also advise on choosing the best sailing route, places to visit and restaurants that best suit your needs. In the event of an emergency, the skipper will know what to do, and who to contact regarding your location, to get the fastest response, much more efficient than when using the usual channels.
Also, to bear in mind are some facts; a skipper wants three meals a day and enough to drink. He or she needs a sleeping place and rest time. If a berth is not available for any reason, the skipper can sleep in the lounge if it can be transformed by lowering the lounge table into a sleeping area. Make the salon his / her private area when this is the case and allow enough time for the skipper to sleep. You can invite the skipper to join you when you dine out, you can make sure he/she has a proper meal on board, or he/she can go out to eat on his / her own, and afterward, you can cover the check.
Often marina fees have to be paid right after docking, or only the papers of the boat are issued to the harbormaster, and then the payment is paid the next morning before departure. In both cases, take care that at the request of the skipper or harbormaster, the skipper has enough money to cover the cost or do it yourself. Regarding the boat’s maintenance, a skipper can clean up after himself, but after the entire crew, he can’t clean up. Help him keep the boat clean and make it more fun.
