How does it work?

Any knowledge at all?

Would you like to be driven off the known routes by a skipper?

That’s the one for you then!

This is a brilliant way without obligation to learn the ropes. Our friendly skipper will inspire you to participate actively in your holiday, or you can relax and sail around!

Our skippered charter yachts

For all groups and budgets, we have boats to match.

Whether there are only two of you, the entire family, or a larger group, we have boats that are ideally suited for couples as well as larger families and friend groups.

We’ve all sailed on a variety of yachts, and no question is a stupid question, so ask us anything you like!

How does the skippered charter work?

It’s simple.

We are chartering a sailing yacht with a skipper who is’ driving’ the boat for you wherever you want to sail. You can get involved as much or as little as you want. For your friends and family, it’s a perfect holiday activity for the whole family.

Conversely, if you’re more interested in sipping a G&T while sunbathing, you should leave it to the skipper to do all the work. Sit back and enjoy yourself.

Take your time from port to port, stop for a relaxing lunch, and swim along the way in beautiful bays before enjoying the afternoon breeze and sailing to your destination at night.

It’s better than being afraid.

Skippers allow unqualified sailors or sailors to charter a yacht and experience what we sailors have been going on for years.

Our skippers are seasoned and can advise you on the best ports to visit, restaurants to eat, and spots to swim.

Choosing your skippered charter route

If you’re taking a skippered charter, it’s up to you where you’re going. Local knowledge of the skipper will go a long way, but you, your interests and preferences from where you want to spend your vacation will also guide him. Usually you’re going to sail to another village, harbor, or island every day, stopping for a relaxing lunch and swimming along the way in beautiful bays. If, of course, you’d like to stay somewhere for a longer time. It’s all up to you!

We have put together several rough sailing guides to help you choose the best sailing area for you. Choose the place you think your crew would best suit or give us some advice. We have sailed in all the areas we cover, so we can give you first-hand information about the weather, the local culture, and, most importantly, where you can find the best restaurants.

Skippered charter information

You are responsible for their nutrition when you hire a skipper. This means you need to have them on board for your breakfast, lunch, and drink plans. In the evening, if you want to dine alone, you can choose to invite them out with you or cover their dinner-your choice.

Most people find that the skipper becomes one of the best aspects of their holiday, so it appears to be more fun to plan the adventure of the next day over a beer or two.

Keep in mind that the skipper always needs their cabin, so when planning your trip, please consider this. Many of our yachts have dedicated cabins for skippers with a separate entrance-perfect for yours and theirs privacy! Ask us when you’re doing the booking about the best-skippered charter yachts.

What are the following steps?

It’s like a vacation in a villa! You should look at the various destinations and choose the one that you like. Croatia and Greece are a great starting point for your sailing adventure!

Choosing a yacht is the same as selecting a house (six people will require at least three bedrooms-called yacht cabins + one extra for the skipper= a four-cabin yacht!).

The easiest way might be to give us a call or email, and we can advise you on the boat’s best area and length.

  • Our skippers can be added for your entire trip to any of our bareboat or flotilla charters, or just a day, whatever suits you.
  • Skippers can perform several different roles and should be considered if you don’t have a sailing certificate or if you haven’t been at the helm for a few years.
  • A skipper is also a good option if you want a part of your adventure to include a first mate or just Captain.
  • If you’ve been hoisting your sails for decades and want some help and support with some of the more physical aspects of keeping a yacht going under sail, a skipper can also serve you.

Below are some commonly asked questions about the finer details that come up to help you decide what’s right for you when choosing a skipper.

Will the skipper be responsible for the yacht at all times? Can I go sailing anywhere?

Officially, our skippers will be responsible for handling the yacht, although you can do as much or as little as you like depending on your level of sailing experience, including taking the helm as long as the Skipper feels safe to do so.

Where’s the skipper going to sleep?

For the duration of your charter, skippers generally have to be allocated a stern cabin to themselves, although occasionally, the bow can be agreed upon. Once you book your flight, anything outside this regular agreement should be decided with discretion.

What / how are we providing for our skipper?

It’s up to you entirely. And remember to buy enough to satisfy your skipper if you intend to pre-order all your food online.

If you intend to provide once you arrive, we recommend that you talk to your skipper when you meet and find out what he or she likes and dislikes and any limitations on a diet.

The skipper may be invited to dinner, and they may agree or choose to stay aboard. If you don’t have food onboard and you don’t want your skipper to come with you, then you can give them ‘ pocket money’ so they can stop into their favorite local spot. If you need them, they will only ever be a phone call away.

What’s the skipper doing at night?

Again, this is entirely up to you as each team is different and communicates in different ways with people. Rest assured, our skippers are experts who can meet new people and read different social situations comfortably.

If you’re inviting your skipper to be part of the fun at night, they may agree or choose to stay on the yacht and wait for your return. You might consider your skipper to be an early riser who bunks down early after a long day of sailing.

Must we tip our skipper?

We recommend it, and you usually tip your skipper. A guideline sum would be 100 EUR per person in your group, but as it could cover quite a distance, we will leave it at your discretion and ask you to give the gratuity that your skipper deserves.

Is the skipper going to speak English?

Our skippers are mixed nationalities, but they will all speak English to the degree that will not impede your holiday in any way.

What are the qualities of a skipper?

Our skippers will allow you to take advantage of the best places to moor, eat out, and visit other areas at the best times. They are fully qualified, commercially approved, and have comprehensive local knowledge to share with you as seasoned sailors. They will show you how to sail, help you rediscover the faith in the helm, provide you with an extra pair of hands, and manage the heavy lift.

Can we have a flotilla holiday skipper?

Sure–if you’re new to sailing, want someone else to take care of your yacht’s maneuvering, or want a helping hand or regional expert on board, you can recruit a skipper to accompany you on a flotilla. You can even charter by the cabin to join a fleet with a skipper and crew of up to 8 others if you’re traveling alone or as a couple and don’t need the whole yacht for yourself.

  • Communicate with your dining habits – do not hesitate to invite your skipper if you dine out, or let them know that arrangements on board have been made.
  • The skipper is an excellent source of local knowledge and secrets that are kept private!
  • Our skippers are friendly and professional. Many of our guests with their skipper become great friends and often employ the same when they come back.
  • For excellent service, a gratuity of 100 EUR per person in your group is appreciated-your skipper can take you almost anywhere within your cruising ground. In addition to actually sailing the yacht, all associated duties will be performed by your skipper, including charting your route, tracking weather conditions and ensuring the safety of all guests during the voyage.
  • Dinghy Transport – This small vessel can be run by your skipper on occasions when your yacht’s dinghy is needed to travel ashore to ensure a safe journey to land.
  • Health & Maintenance-Skippers are responsible at all times for maintaining a clean and tidy board. It means keeping the lines straight and out of the way of harm and maintaining equipment that is not in operation. The skipper will also refill gas and water tanks, but the guests must pay any charges for these.
  • Accommodations-For the duration of your time onboard, your skipper will require private accommodation. Consult your Moorings Vacation Planner or view the specifications on the web page of your yacht to make sure you have enough room for your party plus the crew you plan to hire.
  • Provisioning-Provisioning for your hired crew is needed. You can easily incorporate this when you book online, or if you are booking by phone, a Vacation Planner can provide provisioning.
  • Security-We care about your security. Our skippers are permitted only inside their cabin and the yacht’s common areas.

What will be next?

It’s easy to hire a skipper. Check “Include a Skipper” on the Options & Benefits section of your yacht if you book online, or add your Vacation Planner to your contract when you book over the phone.

Skippered Yacht Charter

Dreaming of sailing holidays in Croatia and having no license or sailing skills or wanting a guide? Thinking about exploring the Croatian coastline, swimming in the salty and crystal clear sea, and soothing environment. Then choosing a skippered yacht in Croatia or skippered catamaran in Croatia is the best way to enjoy your holiday.

Who should choose the yacht charter with skipper?

Skippered boat can be picked by a family or group of friends who want to leave a skipper with all responsibility. Your sailing license for your skipper is not mandatory.

Sailing skills are not mandatory, but skippers can learn from those who would like to engage in regular sailing. We even have advanced skipper requests for regattas occasionally, so even seasoned crews sometimes choose someone who will be master of the boat to have more fun in chartered language.
Skipper on board: Our skippers are competent, experienced in Croatia. They are all Croatians, but they also speak a few languages, ranging from 25 to 50 years of age and registered for skippered charters (licensing and tax-free business). Some of them have years of experience, beginning as children in Croatia’s sailing clubs and choosing a skipper job as a career of life. The responsibility of the skippers is to carry out technical check-in / out on the vessel, advise the crew on the route, moorings, and weather conditions. Sometimes the skipper is not able to provide the direction you expected due to the weather but in favor of the safety of your boat and yourself. We’re going to make every effort to fit the right skipper to the right group.

You are choosing a sailing route

When chartering a skipper, you are welcome to have your idea of the route and discuss it with the skipper. If children are on deck, the skipper will change the direction, maybe shortening the routes.

Skipper fee

Skipper costs around € 150-250 per day (including 25% VAT), and it is customary for the skipper to have meals with the crew. Skipper payment will be made with your charter invoice or at our base office during your check-in.

Skippered yacht charter advantages

  • Skipper is responsible for practical boat pieces, moorings, and crew protection.
  • Skippers usually know all the best mooring locations, the best restaurants, and have local people’s information sources.
  • Skipper’s expertise can be a gift that can encourage and calm your productive holiday.

If you choose a skippered yacht charter, booking a boat with a skipper’s cabin is best, so everyone can have privacy.

How can I book a sailing yacht, catamaran or sailing boat with skipper?

Think of the base that is best suited to your flight plan. Five best starting bases are available in Split, Sibenik, Zadar, Dubrovnik and Trogir. All these bases are very close to airports linked to Zagreb, Rome, Frankfurt, London, Barcelona, Oslo, Stockholm. It is always possible to order transfers from airport to base as an extra.

How can I book?

If you’ve already selected Dubrovnik or Split as your destination and already know what kind of boat you’re looking for (sailboat, catamaran, or motorboat), then start searching for a boat on our website or give us an inquiry. Please contact booking directly or use our online form if you need advice on selecting the appropriate boat. The booking office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Mon-Fri), and you will receive a reply to all your inquiries at the latest within 24 hours.
Necessary papers – skippered boat and security deposit; The skipper will have a valid sailing license and a VHF permit, and the crew will only need passports or identification.

Security deposit: All ships are protected and even with a skipper on a deck, the security deposit must be left in the event of damage caused by crew fault (for example a broken window).

Deposit refundable: paid by (preferred) credit card or in cash. The deposit balance will be unblocked (returned to the client) after returning the boat and technical check-out with the skipper. For a reason, the security deposit is not covered by insurance, like missing dinghy or broken windows. If the loss is less than the security deposit (e.g., missing fender approx. 200 HRK), we will unblock the card and charge the actual cost (e.g., fender 200 HRK) if the fault of the skipper is that the insurance of the skipper covers damage.

All damage should be reported to help the number of boat owners immediately.

Skippered charter

If you don’t have enough yachting experience, don’t have the requisite licenses or want to relax on your holiday and don’t care about anything, you’re going to hire a skipper, and perhaps even a hostess or a cook (depending on your needs, preferences and how much space you have onboard).

It can make your sailing experience much more pleasant and enjoyable to have a professional skipper on board. Don’t hesitate to rely on a professional if you don’t have enough sailing experience or if you have any doubts about your skills. He will drive the boat and take care of it, but he will also give you some tips on sailing, recommend routes, answer most of your questions, show you some excellent restaurants and help you find your way in an unknown area (probably).

Because of their size, power and cost, larger yachts can only be chartered with a skipper or crew, and a separate crew cabin is usually available. But, if you don’t have one on board, note to save a skipper’s berth. Besides sleeping arrangements for the skipper, you are also responsible for the crew’s food, so don’t forget that when you buy food or go out to the restaurant.

All these things go to the hostess as well.
She’s going to cook and keep the boat dry, but she can give you some helpful advice and suggestions as well.

Skipper and hostess will take care of the boat while relaxing and enjoying your holiday. Sometimes some guests forget about what their duties are and view them as personal servants, which is not valid, of course. In the Crew section, you can read more about skipper, hostess, and other crew members’ jobs.

If you want to hire a skipper or hostess, don’t forget why they’re there and treat them with respect so that you can have a fun and enjoyable week for everyone.
Any knowledge at all? Would you like a skipper? Or you’re just learning the ropes… No problem! We can quickly provide your sailing holiday with a professional skipper so you can get on and relax! Take your time from port to port, stop for a relaxing lunch and swim along the way in beautiful bays, before enjoying the afternoon breeze and sailing to your destination at night.

Skippers allow unqualified sailors or sailors to charter a yacht and experience what we sailors have been going on for years. The skippers can also advise you on ports to visit, restaurants to eat, and places to swim, being always local.

How does the skippered charter work?

It’s very simple… We’re chartering a sailing yacht with a skipper who’s’ running’ the boat for you wherever you want to sail! You can get involved as much or as little as you like, your friends and family–it’s a great family fun holiday.

Skipper qualified with local knowledge

Skipper takes care of your yacht’s everyday running. Learn from scratch or develop your sailing skills. Relax on board and let your skipper take control. Who are the skippers?

We have competent, experienced, and qualified skippers for you at every location to sail your yacht. We know that we can pick the one best for you based on your requirements from all the skippers.

Your Skippered Charter Route

When you’re taking a skippered charter, it’s up to you where you’re going. Local knowledge of the skipper will go a long way, but you, your desires and expectations from where you want to spend your holiday will also guide him.

What is the price of a skippered charter?

Hiring a skipper is close to hiring any piece of stock (with all due respect to our skippers, of course!) in that you order them as a surcharge, and we apply the fee accordingly; and you have to pay your skipper on arrival.

Remember that you are also responsible for the skipper’s meals when recruiting a skipper; don’t worry, that doesn’t mean taking them out every night for steak unless, of course, you want to. It only means that you can offer some to the skipper when you make breakfast or lunch, and for the evening, you can either give them an allowance, invite them out with you, or if you offer them some onboard cooking.

The skipper must also have his cabin, so please take this into account when planning your sailing holiday party.

What are the following steps?

It’s practically like hiring a holiday villa! You should look at the various destinations and choose one that you like the sound of. Selecting a yacht is the same as choosing a villa (six people will need at least three bedrooms–called yacht cabins + one extra for the skipper= a four-cabin yacht). The easiest way to do this is to fill out our inquiry form or call us at+ 386.40.873.520, and we can advise you on the size of the vessel that would suit you. Chartering a skippered yacht in Croatia is different in many ways than chartering a bareboat yacht. It is a laid back holiday where the sight of sailing comes as a fascinating originality without the pressure and danger of exploiting the abundant energy of wind. It is identical to power yachts; a skippered yacht charter replaces the burden of running an expensive and efficient machine with the luxury of a carefree holiday.

Skippered yacht charter

Skippered yacht charter or skippered yacht chartering has many benefits; skippers are mostly familiar with the type of boat. When a skipper is present, the protection deposits do not change, but you are no longer responsible for possible damage that may occur during navigation. Your deposit must cover potential damage caused by you alone: broken plates, glasses, windows, damaged equipment, etc. Marinas and ports are overcrowded in the high season, and the skipper must know when to be in the marina to secure one if you need a berth. The skipper should know alternate ports with commercial berths even if you don’t get a berth in the marina.

Also, it is essential to know the local winds and where the anchor holds best when anchoring for the night. The skipper will not only ensure the safety of the crew and the vessel by using a skippered yacht charter, he or she will also advise on choosing the best sailing route, places to visit and restaurants that best suit your needs. In the event of an emergency, the skipper will know what to do, and who to contact regarding your location, to get the fastest response, much more efficient than when using the usual channels.

Also, to bear in mind are some facts; a skipper wants three meals a day and enough to drink. He or she needs a sleeping place and rest time. If a berth is not available for any reason, the skipper can sleep in the lounge if it can be transformed by lowering the lounge table into a sleeping area. Make the salon his / her private area when this is the case and allow enough time for the skipper to sleep. You can invite the skipper to join you when you dine out, you can make sure he/she has a proper meal on board, or he/she can go out to eat on his / her own, and afterward, you can cover the check.

Often marina fees have to be paid right after docking, or only the papers of the boat are issued to the harbormaster, and then the payment is paid the next morning before departure. In both cases, take care that at the request of the skipper or harbormaster, the skipper has enough money to cover the cost or do it yourself. Regarding the boat’s maintenance, a skipper can clean up after himself, but after the entire crew, he can’t clean up. Help him keep the boat clean and make it more fun.
